Laura Crocker Mitchell, MD, FAAP

Being a pediatrician is my childhood dream come true. When I began practicing medicine, I saw families who needed more time, more guidance, and a clearer understanding of what was going on with their child.

During pregnancy and early motherhood, I became more intentional about my own health and began to see how nutrition, environment, and daily routines impact a child’s overall well-being. That experience shaped my interest in a more holistic, integrative approach to pediatrics.

I created Willow to bring those pieces together for families in Birmingham. It’s the kind of care I imagined as a little girl—built for easier access and a deeper understanding of each child.

I grew up in Dothan and now call Birmingham home. I graduated from Auburn University and attended UAB for medical school. After residency at Children’s of Alabama, I worked in the pediatric emergency department before opening Willow.

Outside the clinic, you’ll usually find me with my two boys at the library, the Birmingham Zoo, or playing in our backyard. We love to travel as a family, especially to the beach and Disney World. I also serve on Smile-A-Mile’s Junior Board and Medical Advisory Team.
